Korean BBQ

If you’re looking for a top-notch Korean BBQ restaurant in Seoul where you can also enjoy a drink or two, Yeolgi in Seongsu should be high on your list. Located at 1F, 302 Gwangnaru-ro, Seongdong-gu, this popular eatery is just a short walk from Seongsu Station (Exit 2). Open daily from 17:00 to 24:00, Yeolgi accepts reservations via CatchTable, making it a convenient dinner option for locals and visitors alike.

Getting There

From Seongsu Station, head towards the iconic Seongsu Onion café, then turn toward Seongdong Tax Office. A little farther along, you’ll see the building that houses Yeolgi—keep an eye out for the small sign so you don’t miss it.

Bright & Spacious Interior

The restaurant’s front and back walls are lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, giving it a bright, airy feel. Tables are spaced out to minimize crowding, making the dining experience comfortable for both staff and guests. While most tables seat four, Yeolgi also provides larger tables to accommodate group gatherings or company dinners.

The Menu: More Than Just Beef

Korean BBQ

Yeolgi’s menu includes various premium cuts of Korean beef, along with side dishes that complement the smoky flavors from the charcoal grill. During our visit, we opted for:

  1. Salchisal (Top Sirloin Cap, 살치살)  – 22,000 KRW
    • Known for its rich beef flavor and tender texture, this cut offers a delightful charcoal aroma. We first sampled it simply with salt and wasabi to fully appreciate the natural taste.
  2. Seng Neukgan-sal (Intercostal Meat, 늑간살) – 18,000 KRW
    • Sourced near the rib area, this cut boasts a slightly chewy texture and a bit more marbling. We found it paired beautifully with the provided tortillas, especially when loaded with fresh veggies and sauces.
  3. Yeolgi Fried Rice(열기 볶음밥) – 9,000 KRW
    • Topped with a “blanket” of runny eggs, this kimchi fried rice is studded with generous chunks of beef. Cutting into the egg reveals the moist and savory interior—a hearty way to round out the meal.

Yeolgi also offers side salads (one topped with cheese, another marinated in soy sauce) and sauces that go beyond the typical salt and wasabi. Yogurt sauce and Sriracha mayo let you customize your wrap, with crisp cabbage and lettuce adding both texture and flavor.

Tortillas: A Fun Twist

What truly sets Yeolgi apart is its “wrap your beef in a tortilla” approach. Instead of the usual perilla leaves or lettuce, you’re encouraged to build your own handheld bites. Load up your tortilla with grilled beef, salads, and one of their unique sauces for a fun and satisfying fusion experience.

Final Thoughts

  1. Spacious & Clean: Yeolgi’s bright, well-ventilated interior and comfortable layout live up to its reputation as a top-tier Seongsu beef restaurant.
  2. Inventive Dining Experience: While the quality of the meat itself is impressive, the option to use tortillas for your wraps adds a memorable twist.

If you’re looking for a charcoal-grilled Korean beef dinner in Seongsu where you can also unwind with a drink, Yeolgi offers just the right mix of flavor, creativity, and ambiance. Make sure to reserve via CatchTable and experience this unique way to try premium cuts of beef—taco style!
